CEREMONIES marking the 11th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks have begun in New York, with a moment of silence and the reading of nearly 3,000 victims’ names.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and White House staff gathered on the White House lawn for a moment of silence, while Vice president Joe Biden was set to deliver remarks at the Flight 93 National Memorial Commemorative Service in Pennsylvania.
