Honduras in plea to UN
HONDURAS' interim government has filed a case at the United Nation's highest court accusing Brazil of meddling in internal Honduran affairs by allowing ousted president Manuel Zelaya to stay at its embassy in Tegucigalpa.
Interim president Roberto Micheletti has asked the International Court of Justice to order Brazil to stop granting Mr Zelaya refuge in its diplomatic mission in the Honduran capital.
Mr Zelaya has been holed up at the Brazilian embassy since sneaking back into Honduras on 21 September. The army forced him out of office on 28 June after he defied Supreme Court orders to cancel a referendum on rewriting the constitution.
It is not clear if the court will take on the case from an administration installed following a coup.
A Brazilian foreign ministry spokeswoman said the government was evaluating the case, but did not think it will succeed because it was filed by an "illegitimate administration".
