Ex–president faces health setbacks

Former American president George HW Bush is in intensive care at a Texas hospital after suffering “a series of [health] setbacks,” including a stubborn fever.

Spokesman Jim McGrath said the 88-year-old had been admitted on Sunday to the unit at Methodist Hospital. Mr McGrath said Mr Bush was alert and talking to medical staff.
