Eta offers ceasefire for home-rule vote
BASQUE separatists Eta said yesterday they would be prepared to call a ceasefire if the Spanish government allowed a referendum on Basque independence.
The government made no immediate response, but the main political parties have made it clear they would oppose any vote.
