TWO trains collided outside Cairo yesterday afternoon, killing at least 25 people.
A further 55 people were injured in the accident, which occurred when a passenger train ran into the back of a leading train on the outskirts of the city.
A police official said emergency personnel were working to rescue the wounded and recover the bodies of the victims from the trains.
The worst recent disaster took place in February 2002 when a train heading to southern Egypt caught fire, killing 363 people.
