Czech emergency as cheap drink kills 15
The Czech Republic announced a state of emergency yesterday, saying that at least 15 people are dead and 24 have been hospitalised after drinking cheap vodka and rum laced with methanol – a toxic substance used in black market alcohol.
Some of the victims have been blinded. Other patients have been induced into comas in the hope that doctors can save them.
