Chess ace boils over in egg row

CHESS grand master Bobby Fischer was placed in solitary confinement at a Japanese immigration detention centre for four days after a fracas with guards over a boiled egg.

Fischer has been in custody in Japan since he was arrested last July for travelling on an invalid US passport. His fiancee Miyoko Watai today said he had been put in solitary after a scuffle with guards who refused to give him an additional boiled egg at breakfast.
