Bush calls for troops to stop immigrants

Washington: US President George Bush is expected to call for thousands of National Guard troops along the US-Mexico border to help curtail illegal immigration, when he makes an Oval Office address on TV tonight.

Bush backs a guest-worker programme that would let immigrants work temporarily in the US, which has cost him support among some conservatives.

Beijing: Bogus drugs made by a Chinese company have killed four people and led to severe kidney failure in at least six in the south of the country.
