Briton charged with stabbing Scots tourist to death
A BRITISH tourist has been charged with murdering a Scots traveller at a caravan park in Australia.
Alexander York, 31, thought to be from England, appeared in court today accused of stabbing Scotsman Rudi Boa, 27, to death in Tumut, New South Wales, on Friday night.
The two, who were both on holiday in Australia on working visas, had been drinking together when an argument broke out.
Mr Boa, thought to be from Culloden, near Inverness, suffered stab wounds to his body and died at the scene, a spokeswoman for New South Wales Police said.
Following the hearing at Tumut Local Court today, York was remanded in custody. It is understood Mr Boa had been travelling with his British girlfriend, named locally as Jill Burns.
Jan Biddle, who owns Blowering Holiday Park in Tumut, about 250 miles south-west of Sydney, said the accused had been drinking since early morning.
She said: "I am so terribly sorry for the three families that are involved. It must be terrible, especially for Jill's family as she is so far from home.
"Alex did not cause any trouble at the park before. He had been drinking from early in the morning.
"I want to extend my deepest sympathies to Jill's, Rudi's and Alex's families because they will all be devastated by the incident."
