British tourist killed in paraglide horror
A British tourist plunged to his death in a paragliding accident in Argentina when he slipped loose from his harness, according to reports.
David Mather, 28, from London, crashed 230ft to the ground after he became detached from the instructor accompanying him, according to the Diario Panorama newspaper.
He died instantly, the report said.
Witnesses said Mr Mather began shouting desperately almost as soon as the paraglide was launched, as he found himself slipping from his harness.
His instructor reportedly tried in vain to seize him as he slipped.
Mr Mather was on holiday in the mountainous province of Salta in north-west Argentina, visiting his brother Gareth, 29, who lives and works there. The accident happened on December 31.
His family accused the manager and instructor at the adventure tourist company of negligence.
