Body found a year after earthquake

NEARLY a year after the devastating earthquake that struck Pakistan, the body of a man has been found in rubble, ending his family's hopes that he had survived.

Fazlur Rehman, 42, a painter, was working when the earthquake struck on 8 October, killing more than 73,000 people. His body was found during reconstruction work in the town of Balakot in North-west Frontier Province.

"We always thought he had escaped in Balakot and would come home some day," his daughter, Sonia, said yesterday.
