Bin Laden town gets £20m park

A £20 MILLION amusement park and outdoor activity centre is to be built on the edge of the town in Pakistan where United States special forces killed Osama bin Laden.

The private venture in Abbottabad, in the foothills of the Himalayas, is set to include a zoo, water sports, mini-golf, rock climbing and paragliding, and take five years to complete.

Local official Khalid Omarzai said people had suggested the government should build a public park on the exact site of the al-Qaeda leader’s killing, but he had rejected the idea because some might call it “Osama Park”.

US special forces killed bin Laden in 2011 in a secret raid that humiliated Pakistan’s military, which has an academy nearby.
