ANC condolences on Botha death

THE African National Congress, outlawed under the apartheid regime of South African president PW Botha, was one of the first groups to offer condolences on his death last night.

Botha, 90, led South Africa through its worst racial violence. The ANC's move was seen as a symbol of how the new multiracial country is trying to heal past wounds.
