Abdul fined for hit and run

SINGER Paula Abdul has been fined and placed on probation after pleading guilty to a hit and run charge.

She was ordered to pay around 480 in fines and 415 to the victims after clipping a car as she changed lanes on a Los Angeles road before fleeing the scene.

The misdemeanour charge carried a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a 535 fine.

Abdul, who is a judge on TV talent contest American Idol alongside Simon Cowell, was not in court for the hearing.
