35 killed as heavy floods strike China

China: Floods caused by heavy rains over two days killed 14 people and injured another 14 in China's south-west, the government said today, as the death toll from flash floods in a nearby province rose to 21.

The floods swept through Guizhou and Yunnan provinces after six inches of rain fell yesterday and Wednesday.

Pakistan: Security forces killed three tribal militants and wounded two others during a gun battle yesterday.

The paramilitary forces fought a two-hour gun battle about 210 miles east of Quetta.
