A WOMAN from Leith has been shortlisted for a prestigious award for her work with the Prince’s Trust.
Naomi Johnston, 26, has been nominated for the Martin Currie Charitable Foundation young ambassador award for inspiring other young people.
The award is given to those who use the experience of helping themselves to help others.
Naomi became involved in drug abuse and her erratic lifestyle led to her becoming homeless before joining programmes run by the trust.
She said: “Understanding my own behaviour opened up a new way of deciding what choices to make. I have learned so much about myself throughout my journey with the trust.”
Heather Gray, director of the Prince’s Trust Scotland, said: “Each of the shortlisted young people should be immensely proud of their achievements.
“Many have overcome very significant barriers but are now in a position where they can look forward to a fulfilling and happy future.
“They are all excellent examples of how outstanding young people can be given the right support and opportunity.”
