Temperatures in the northern and north-easterly regions of Scotland and the south-east were cooled by cloud cover, while Edinburgh enjoyed temperatures of around 15C.

The weather in many parts of Scotland is expected to remain sunny until the weekend, though forecasters say temperatures on Thursday and Friday will be slightly lower across the country.

Temperatures yesterday were even hotter, with highs of 24C recorded.
