Impersonation charges are dropped against 'Sgt Eros' stripper

A STRIPPER who dresses up as a police officer has had charges against him dropped more than a year after he was brought to court.

Stuart Kennedy, 25, a student who performed as "Sergeant Eros" to pay his way through university, was charged with impersonating a policeman and breaching the peace in November 2007.

He was further charged with assaulting a man with a prop that resembled a canister of CS spray, but that charge was later dropped.

Police officers held him for 39 hours following the alleged incident at Tiger Tiger nightclub in Aberdeen, where Mr Kennedy claimed he was attacked by a clubber.

Yesterday Mr Kennedy was told the case had been dropped.

His trial had been due to start last year but was postponed at the last minute when it emerged staff had told a London-based witness to go home.

Mr Kennedy said: "This is excellent news. I was confused as to why it was ever taken to court, the CCTV evidence from the night clearly proves my innocence."

Two years ago a sheriff ruled there was no case to answer when the stripper went on trial accused of using offensive weapons in his act.
