'I cannot help but think of the millions who are homeless'
IN HIS Christmas message, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev Bill Hewitt, spoke of the plight of the millions of people around the world who are homeless during the festive season.
"For many people, this time of year involves journeying as we 'go home for Christmas' and as I think of that I cannot help but think of the millions in our world who are homeless.
"Not the faceless unknown, but those whom I met recently in London and the many more whom I saw on the streets of Chennai (in India].
"I also think of those who will be made homeless in the years to come if we don't take seriously the call to look at how we use our natural resources or deal with the problems of climate change."
But Mr Hewitt said the message of Christmas was that there was hope for the hopeless, joy for the sorrowful and love for the unloved.
"Our journey is one of the heart and mind as we look to the one who will change the world."
