Hunt as armed thieves steal thousands outside bank
TWO robbers who stole a five-figure sum of money from security staff making a collection at a bank are being hunted by police.
The two security staff were approached by the men, who were armed with what appeared to be a firearm and a baseball bat, at the Clydesdale Bank in Stuart Street, East Kilbride on Sunday night.
The suspects threatened the workers and demanded cash before escaping. Both members of staff were uninjured but shocked by the incident which took place at around 11:40pm outside the bank, Strathclyde Police said.
The suspects were described as between 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall. Both men were wearing charcoal grey hooded tops, dark-coloured tracksuit trousers and trainers.
Detective Constable Jim Waddell said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in or around the area of the Clydesdale Bank last night to contact us. Any piece of information, however insignificant it may seem, could help us."
