Hundreds of carers stage Capital protest
HUNDREDS of carers marched through the streets of the Capital yesterday in protest at two key issues.
Members of various organisations wanted to show their anger at council plans to retender homecare for 700 people, while others expressed dissatisfaction at what they see as a lack of action on carer poverty.
Banners declared that family unpaid carers save the tax-payer an estimated 7.6 billion a year, while others shouted for the city to halt its retendering process.
