Basketball: Peregrines are cut down by shining Knights

The topsy-turvy form of this season's Scottish basketball league continued with Stirling Knights recording their first victory 62-54 at the expense of East Lothian Peregrines while St Mirren, who lost to Peregrines at home in the opening week, travelled to Ayr to defeat Troon Tornadoes 77-50.

Edinburgh Kings and Falkirk Fury are now the only unbeaten teams in the league, high-scoring Kings failing to reach the ton away to Glasgow Storm - they won 83-63 - while Fury took care of the Glasgow Rocks 94-70. Kings will now fear a backlash from the Tornadoes at Portobello on Saturday.

Glasgow University proved too strong at home for winless Dunfermline Reign and are emerging as possible Top Four contenders along with Stirling. Neil Fraser top-scored with 24 points for Knights, former Falkirk and Troon's Dan Donnelly adding 14.

Edinburgh Kool Kats had their first senior win of the season, beating Falkirk Fury 74-58 at the Mariner Centre, where their juniors (55-57) and cadettes completed a treble.
