Homes builder agrees to meet power bills for first two years
AN Edinburgh-based housing company is offering to cover gas and electricity bills for new householders for two years, despite a fall in their own profits.
Family owned housebuilders The Walker Group saw pre-tax profits in the year to the end of September dip to 12.8 million, compared to 27.2m in the previous year, while turnover at the firm fell from 80.6m to 44.8m.
But new home-buyers at the company's Roman Fields development in Dalkeith will now be able to shave thousands of pounds off their gas and electricity bills, with the Walker Group agreeing to cover bills up to the value of 2500 for the first two years.
Sandy Casey from Walker said: "Househunters nervous about buying in today's economy will appreciate a helping hand to secure their dream home.
"This special offer available on the remaining homes at Roman Fields will no doubt give a financial boost to families looking to move up the property ladder."
The firm is headed by founder and chairman Mike Walker and his son Bruce.
