Homely Secretary
YOU have to feel sorry for Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary. Her main home is just a bedroom in her sister's house. However, at £100,000, it must be pretty special. But it's not quite big enough for her husband and children, so they have to put up with a rather large second home. Never mind, they sit by a £1,000 fireplace eating at a £460 table in front of their free home entertainment system.
The dishes are washed in their new 550 kitchen sink before they take a bath with the new 88p bath plug and slump on the 704 sofa bed. In fact,
every appliance in the home is paid for by the taxpayer.
Do we need a reform of the allowance system for our valued public servants? You bet we do.
