Holyrood body rules out party 'lunch' auctions
ALEX Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon were wrong to auction lunches at the Holyrood restaurant for party funds, Scottish Parliament authorities suggested last night.
A letter from the Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson released last night confirmed that the MSP restaurant should not be used for party political fundraising.
The First Minister and his deputy asked the Scottish Parliament's corporate body to consider the matter after they were criticised for auctioning lunches in the subsidised restaurant for 11,000 earlier this month.
The explanation of the rules led to the Labour Party renewing its attacks on Scotland's two most senior politicians. Labour's business manager, Paul Martin, said of the ruling: "It should have not taken the corporate body to spell this out to the First Minister and his deputy."
A spokesman for the two ministers said: "We were very happy to call for clarification on this matter and are happy to get it."
