Holistic clinic insists IVF not the only way

A FERTILITY clinic is out to prove that IVF is not the only solution for couples struggling to have a baby.

The Edinburgh Natural Fertility Clinic has announced its latest success figures which show that a combination of alternative therapies can provide a solution for many women having problems getting pregnant.

They show that 47 per cent of patients who visited the clinic between 2007 and 2008 conceived successfully.

Results also show that people who receive fertility awareness advice are three times more likely to conceive than those who do not.

As well as offering support to couples to help them conceive naturally, the clinic's figures also show that a range of treatments such as acupuncture, nutritional advice and hypnotherapy can also support the IVF process.

Deirdre Armstrong, who runs the clinic, said: "Many couples are not aware of the effect stress and busy workloads have on their reproductive health.

"By using complementary therapies we look to use an integrated approach to treat fertility problems."
