Hokey Cokey hocus-pocus
Someone needs to point out to Cardinal Keith O'Brien that it's Christmas, not April Fools Day, with his stupid claim that the Hokey Cokey is anti-Catholic and based on Puritan parodies on transubstantiation (your report, 22 December).
The Hokey Cokey was written by Roman Catholic Jimmy Kennedy, Northern Ireland's megastar of "Tin Pan Alley" famous for We're Hanging Out Our Washing On The Siegfried Line, The Isle Of Capri, The Teddy Bear's Picnic and as every Bob Hope or They Might Be Giants fan knows Istanbul (Not Constantinople).
This Hokey Cokey hanky panky is but the latest in a long line of tiresome crass proclamations from this attention seeking cleric. He makes Scottish Catholicism a laughing stock.

I am happy to confess that I have participated in the Hokey Cokey in the past, fully intend to do so again in the future, and furthermore I shall encourage others to take part in the Hokey Cokey.
As an atheist, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to accompany a representative from the Catholic Church to a police station, where I shall be happy to make a full confession regarding my participation in the Hokey Cokey. Will the Catholic Church put its faith in the courts or will it continue to bully and hector Scots into submission?
