High-speed rail spotlight

SCOTLAND's Transport Minister is to hold a one-day conference in the Capital on high-speed rail.

Tavish Scott MSP will explore the possibilities that the faster trains could offer to people in the Capital. The Scottish Executive has recently backed a report by former British Railways chief Sir Rod Eddington, which recommended high speed rail.

Mr Scott will hold the conference, called High Speed Rail, Scotland and the UK Agenda: Securing Transport and Economic Transformation on January 16 at the Carlton Hotel on North Bridge. Key figures from the transport industry will be giving presentations at the event.
