Here Come The Girls
ON his 1988 album Lovesexy, Prince has a track called Anna Stesia. I Feel For You, a song written by his purpleness, remains Chaka Khan's biggest hit. It's not for the want of trying, but we can't find anything to link Prince to Lulu, though he did once record a song with her fellow Scot, Sheena Easton.
No matter. Here Come The Girls is nowt to do with the Minneapolis maestro anyway – its a footstomping, high-octane, tongue-in-cheek musical extravaganza that sees Chaka Khan, Anastacia and Lulu join forces to form a supergroup with a series of UK concerts.
The tour, which kicks off at the Usher Hall tomorrow, is the brainchild of producer Steven Howard, the man behind the smash hit Viva La Diva stage show featuring ballerina Darcey Bussell and opera star Katherine Jenkins. Howard says the show will "see the the girls sing and dance to their favourite songs from the Sixties right through to the Noughties".
Howard adds, "We have glitz, glamour, half-naked men and non-stop hits and are hoping it will be the must-see Christmas show of 2009. It will be centred on the three stars, each with their own unique sense of style and humour.
"The show will see the girls sing and dance to their favourite songs. It should appeal to fans of Sex In The City and Mamma Mia!
"A show like this was some-thing Lulu always wanted to do and we worked the idea up after we met a couple of years ago. Chaka Khan and Anastacia were her dream artists."
Here Come The Girls, Usher Hall, Lothian Road, tomorrow, 7pm, 25-40, 0131-228 1155
