Helen, 108, dies a month on from celebrating birthday
ONE of the city's oldest residents has died exactly a month after celebrating her 108th birthday.
Helen Marshall, who lived independently in her own home in Newington, passed away on 28 December.
Last month, the Evening News reported her milestone birthday when she was joined by Lady Provost Elizabeth Grubb and members of her family.
She revealed the secret of her long life as "I don't swear, I don't drink, and I don't go with the men", and also said that the key to staying fit and healthy was regularity of meal times.
Mrs Marshall, who was said to have passed away "peacefully", will be laid to rest at Mortonhall Crematorium Pentland Chapel next Tuesday at 3:30pm.
