Heart surgery broadcast live to conference
FOUR heart operations in Edinburgh are to be broadcast live to a conference in London today to show medics from around the world methods used at the ERI.
It is the first time such an initiative has taken place in Edinburgh, and is a great honour for the hospital's cardiology team, NHS Lothian said.
Each case will be accompanied by commentary from the consultants and shown at the British Cardiovascular Society conference in London's Metropole Hotel.
The operations, which all involve different procedures, will also be shown on screens within the Little France hospital's cath lab for cardiology staff to view.
It is understood each broadcast will last around 45 minutes.
