Hearing support in Scotland is 'among best in the world'
SERVICES for deaf people in Scotland are among the best in the world, a launch event in Edinburgh has been told.
The Scottish Government unveiled a number of initiatives at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Public health minister Shona Robison said those who experience hearing loss will now be able to benefit from hearing aid technology to suit work, home or family needs, as well as increased support in all aspects of their lives, and increased information.
Delia Henry, the director of Royal National Institute for Deaf People Scotland, said: "Hearing aids are a lifeline to work, friends and family for people struggling to hear in their everyday lives.
"Crucially, (the standards] cover rehabilitation services so people can expect better post- fitting support to get used to wearing the equipment."
