Healthy growth on NHS website
MORE people than ever turned to the NHS 24 website for health advice during the festive period, the organisation has said.
Figures released show that more than 27,000 people logged on to the site over Christmas and New Year when GP surgeries were closed.
That is an increase of more than 100 per cent on last year, NHS 24 bosses said, showing that people were increasingly having faith in the resource.
Dr George Crooks, medical director of NHS 24, said: "This shows that people are turning to what is increasingly becoming a trusted source of health-care information, especially over the winter period when many people get a cough, cold or flu.
"We expect that this will continue during the current cold snap, with people looking for easily accessible information on winter illness and how they can take care of their own health."
