Widow leaves £1m to aid arthritis victims
THE widow of an Aberdeenshire doctor has left more than £1 million of her estate to help people suffering from arthritis.
Isobel Meston, 84, from Torphins, died in April last year and was the widow of Dr Sandy Meston. The couple had no children and it is understood her late husband had suffered from the condition before he died.
Mrs Meston has made the substantial bequest to Arthritis Research UK with the view of establishing a chair in rheumatology at either Aberdeen, Glasgow or Manchester universities.
A spokeswoman for Arthritis Research UK described the £1m bequest as a “wonderfully generous gesture”.
