Tributes paid to former Western Isles GP
TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Western Isles GP and Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Dr John MacLeod, who has died.
Dr MacLeod, who was from Lochmaddy, North Uist, was a GP for 27 years and was later elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow.
He also served on many community bodies.
Alex MacDonald, convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council), said: "He was a natural leader and a hugely respected and valued member of the Western Isles community."
