Supermarket milk alert
A LEADING supermarket chain recalled a batch of its semi-skimmed milk last night, amid fears that it may be tainted with cleaning solution.
Waitrose said its 1.136-litre (2pt) cartons of Essential Waitrose semi-skimmed milk, marked "Display until 01 Nov/Use By 02 Nov", are affected.
It warned that the product should not be used or drunk and should be returned to a local branch of Waitrose for a full refund.
Cheryl White, head of food technology for Waitrose, said: "During a production run, some cartons were accidentally tainted with a very diluted cleaning solution. We are very sorry for the inconvenience."
