Spinal surgery enjoys success
A SERVICE offering spinal surgery in Edinburgh has become a victim of its own success, health chiefs have said.
Figures show 33 patients needing scoliosis surgery waited for longer than the 12-week target in the Lothians. NHS Lothian bosses pointed out that because of its increasing reputation and the fact it is the only place in Scotland offering those types of surgery, a significant increase in patients had occurred.
As a result, additional capacity will be made available.
