Sick Kids art
charity wins
£10,000

A CHARITY which provides art therapy classes to children at the Capital’s Sick Kids Hospital has been handed a £10,000 boost.

Edinburgh-based charity Trefoil and construction company Balfour Beatty teamed up to offer the cash to the Teapot Trust, which runs the twice-weekly sessions.

The donation marks the one-year anniversary of the Teapot Trust, which offers the classes to occupy the minds of children who are receiving treatment.

David McArthur, chief executive of Trefoil said: “The specialist art therapy allows for a degree of distraction from the clinical environment and makes the whole experience more positive for the children, their siblings and their parents.”

Dr Edward Doyle, clinical director at the Sick Kids, said: “The art therapy groups provided by the Teapot Trust are a very welcome distraction for children coming into the hospital for outpatient appointments, especially for those who have to be here on a regular basis.

“I would like to thank the Teapot Trust for providing this service and wish them a very happy first birthday.”
