Shock rise in children with chlamydia
THE number of cases of some sexually transmitted diseases has increased among children in the past four years, new figures have shown.
Cases of chlamydia among children aged ten to 15 increased from 249 to 318 between 2004 and 2008, and the number of young people with other conditions, such as gonorrhoea and genital warts, also rose.
The figures were given to the Liberal Democrats following a parliamentary question to the Scottish Government.
Lib Dem health spokesman Ross Finnie said: "These figures show that young people are not getting the message about safe sex."
