Probe launched into GP’s death

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched following the “sudden and unexplained death” of a Scottish GP the day after she gave birth to a stillborn daughter.

Dr Fiona Agnew died at the Forth Valley Hospital in Larbert less than 24 hours after the delivery of her second child, later named Isla Elspeth. Dr Agnew, 38, lived in Edinburgh with her partner, Craig Stobo, and their young son Robert.

A funeral will be held for both mother and daughter on Friday in Edinburgh.

Dr Agnew was originally from Stenhousemuir, Stirlingshire.

A spokeswoman for NHS Forth Valley confirmed an internal review was to be held.
