Pets’ unhealthy human diet
Fish and chips, chicken tikka masala and lasagne among the nation’s favourite dishes to feed to their pets.
A survey by More Than Pet Insurance shows that three- quarters of cat and dog owners are allowing their pets to gorge on the leftovers of unhealthy human foods regularly – with one in ten doing it every day.
Statistics show that one in three cats and dogs are now overweight. “Obesity in pets is a serious issue and has become a much more common problem over the past few years,” said nutritionist Stephanie Mehanna.
