Paedophile convicted of abusing boys
A SERIAL paedophile has been convicted of sexually abusing three underage boys.
A jury found Graham Borthwick, of Tranent, East Lothian, guilty of four charges spanning a 13-year period.
He forced one boy to lie on the floor and put a cushion over his face before stripping him and committing sex acts on him when the boy was nine and 10 years old. The offence happened in 1999 and 2000.
Five years later, he started committing similar sexual offences on the boy’s younger brother, who was ten. The abuse continued until 2009 when the boy reached the age of 14.
He was also found guilty of lewd indecent and libidinous practices towards a 12-year-old.
The victims claimed Borthwick, 46, plied them with treats and took them on trips before the ordeals.
During the five-day trial, the jury was told that the most worrying aspect of the case was the way the pervert had moved from child to child over a period of years.
Judge Lord Jones deferred sentence for reports and ordered that Borthwick’s name be put on the sex offenders register and that the conviction be reported to Scottish ministers.
