NHS crucifix row
A CHRISTIAN hospital worker says she fears for her job after refusing to take off a crucifix that "could harbour infection".
Helen Slatter, 43, says she will not choose between her faith and her job after the NHS claimed the crucifix could spread disease or even be used as a weapon. Gloucestershire Royal Hospital said health and safety rules applied to all and had nothing to do with religion.
The blood collector (phlebologist) said she was told she would be sent home if she failed to comply. She also says she may leave her job of five years to escape the "awful situation".
The case echoes that of Nadia Eweida, who clashed with British Airways over her after refusing to take off a crucifix. BA reversed its policy.
