Long-term poor health on rise
The number of adults with long-standing physical or mental conditions has increased significantly, a comprehensive health study has suggested.
Last year, 44 per cent of adults reported long-term conditions, including disability, compared with 41 per cent in 2008, the Scottish Health Survey found.
More than 9,000 adults and children were interviewed.
Well-being was closely linked to where people lived, with problems increasing in line with levels of deprivation. Despite that, 76 per cent of adults described their health in general as good or very good.
