Kit Kats for Atkins fans .. at a price
LOW-CARB versions of some of Britain’s favourite chocolate snacks are to be produced - at four times the normal price.
New versions of Kit Kat and Rolo are to go on sale within weeks aimed at up to three million Britons on the low-carb Atkins diet.
Producer Nestl has announced that the new Kit Kat will cost 79p for two fingers compared to the usual 20p charged.
Low-carb Rolos will sell for 1.49 a packet compared to the regular price of 35p. The new versions will have artificial sweeteners and bulking agents instead of sugar.
A Nestl spokeswoman said: "We’ve developed these products in response to demand for low-carb products."
The British Dietetic Association has been critical of companies behind the current boom in low-carb chocolate bars, which have also been launched by Atkins, because of the high prices charged.
