HOLLYWOOD actress Kelly Macdonald returned to her roots yesterday to help launch the Yorkhill Children’s Charity Christmas campaign.

The star joined hospital patients and members of the Military Wives Choir at the fundraising drive in Glasgow.

The mother-of-two, who gave birth to second son Theodore in the city last December, said she was delighted to be spearheading the campaign.

Fresh from her red carpet appearance at the Scottish Baftas on Sunday night, the 37-year-old said: “It’s such a great honour. I think it is an amazing hospital and if you are a parent in Scotland you are lucky to have Yorkhill. I just hope this raises its profile a bit, not just for Christmas but all year round.

“Yorkhill is a centre of excellence and it couldn’t be that without the money coming in to each department. They really need constant sources of money to give the kids the best treatment.”

Ms Macdonald was recently appointed ambassador for the charity, which is asking for donations to help make Christmas special for youngsters being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

She stars in the hit US period drama Boardwalk Empire.
