It's the breast way forward
A SERIES of events are being held this week to raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding.
Coffee mornings are being held at Gilmerton Community Centre and at Craigroyston Community High School, while a special tea party is being organised within the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for new mums as part of National Breastfeeding Awareness Week.
Dr Alison McCallum, NHS Lothian's director of public health, said: "We all know that breastfeeding is the best, most natural option for feeding babies, but we also know that, sometimes, establishing breastfeeding isn't easy for some mums. It's important that they know that there is support and advice available."
