Inquiry call on assisted dying

A FORMER health minister has called on the government to set up a royal commission on assisted dying.

The plea from Labour's Lord Warner came after five law lords backed MS sufferer Debbie Purdy's call for a statement on the circumstances in which a person might face prosecution for helping a loved one end their life abroad.

Lord Warne said: "The progress on clarifying and improving the law might be improved if there was a royal commission, to look dispassionately at the evidence to help parliament in their deliberations."
