Healthy curves back in fashion

SUPERMODEL Naomi Campbell has welcomed the increase in plus-size models on catwalks, saying: "The bigger the better."

She joined leading fashion designers in hailing the arrival of more normal-sized women during London Fashion Week.

"I think if someone is beautiful then they should do what they want to do," she said.

Designer Borun Aksu noted after his show that larger, healthier models appear to have made a breakthrough on the catwalks. "You also notice that these are girls who look healthy and happy."

Four plus-size models featured in designer Mark Fast's show, including American Crystal Renn, a size-16 and one of the most famous 2plus-size models.

High street giant Debenhams this week became one of the first retailers to replace some of its size ten mannequins with ones more suited to the average British woman's size 14-16.
