Deaths of diabetics linked to foot ulcers

Diabetic patients with foot ulcers are more likely to die prematurely, a study suggests.

Researchers found that 34 per cent of diabetic foot ulceration patients had died before a follow-up check, compared with 17 per cent of those who did not develop the complication.

They also had an increased risk of fatal heart attacks and strokes.
